I was able to confirm that the Mavic Air 2 will in fact have 4K 60fps capability. We also recently learned more about the ½ inch Sony IMX586 sensor, which is capable of 48MP photos, and 4K video up to 90FPS, the sensor information comes from OsitaLV again along with a picture of what looks like the retail box for the single unit inside a retail store. This would suggest that retailers will be ready with stock in store when they begin selling, which I believe will be in the next week or two at most. The Sony sensor is very capable, known for it’s low light performance, an area where most drones are lacking, the resolution is lowered in low light to 12MP, but the result is a very low noise image. Over the weekend, the Best Buy Canada store posted a small snippet of what is to come, I was able to grab this screenshot which confirms 4k 60FPS capability with a 10KM range and 34 minute flight time and an indication of pre-orders coming soon. 60 FPS was something we haven’t been able to confirm yet, this screenshot along with the Song IMX586 sensor leak, we can confirm 4k60fps, while lacking an adjustable aperture and only half the size of the Mavic 2 pro sensor, it will certainly be a contender for anyone looking at the Mavic 2 Pro, which lacks 4k60fps. We also have seen more shots of the controller and the camera from the leaks. At this point it is unclear if the controller will support a large tablet or iPad but I’m already working on a design to accommodate my own iPad Pro which will be available at Miss Chrisy Co once I have finished testing. The Mavic Air 2 is looking to be a very exciting drone with all the features that most users of the Mavic Mini are missing.
